Honor Roll

The Honor Roll recognizes those individuals who have made a lasting contribution to Central High School and The Central Pride Foundation through their time, efforts or donation.

2015

Burt Jr and Michele Kaliski,  2015, for a contribution to enhance technology within the Central High School Mathematics Department.  Mr. Kaliski made the donation in remembrance on Mr. Omer Chicoine, Burt’s math teacher while at Central.

Burt is a 1981 Central graduate, the first of five siblings to do so after the family moved to Manchester in 1975.  Both his parents were New Hampshire educators:  his father, Burt Sr., taught and led business education at New Hampshire College / SNHU, and his mother, Janice, taught physics at NH Community Colleges in Manchester and Nashua and also helped establish the NH Science and Engineering Expo.  In addition to his parents’ encouragement, Burt credits Central’s math faculty for starting him on his career in computer science, by moving him out of the math classroom and into the computer room, where he taught himself computer programming on the school’s PDP-11.  Burt received Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in computer science from MIT.  His career has included research and technology leadership positions at RSA Security, EMC Corporation, and Verisign.   Burt and his wife, Michele, currently live in the Washington DC area, and have two grown children.

2014

John Oparowski, major contributor to the Central High School Music & Theater Arts.  Mr. Oparowski’s donation funded a variety of equipment including a new spot light and wireless communication system for McAllaster Hall.

John is member of the Class of 1955 Central High School and enlisted in the Army following graduation. John served 29 years and was in the Army band (trumpet) until he retired in 1984. He followed his military career to become a lithographer until his retirement in 2002.

Over the ensuing years, Mr. Oparowski traveled extensively and now volunteers at the Palace Theater, Capital Center and the Concord City Auditorium.

Mr. Oparowski is a widower.  He married Shirley Pye a graduate of the Central High School Class of 1957.  John And Shirley had three children, Lisa, Cheryl and David.
